VAL DE MEIGAS     BEGINNINGS

“Meigas” (“witches”)

The meigas, legend has it, are magical figures full of power that inhabit the entire valley and their meaning is closely related to Galician culture and tradition. These figures, full of magic, have inspired the creator of VAL de MEIGAS to make a wine that evokes tradition, mystery and the supernatural. A wine that imbues those who taste it with Galician culture and tradition, making them part of the magic of this land.

VAL de MEIGAS

VAL de MEIGAS is a personal project of Rebeca Barral, whose family have been making wines for several generations. She has been making it professionally since the early 1980s in the family winery in the Rías Baixas Designation of Origin.

Rebeca was born in the Salnés Valley, a privileged area for growing grapes, which allowed her to grow surrounded by vineyards, grapes, vintages, barrels; listening to long conversations about wine making and participate in countless popular festivals where wine was always the protagonist. Thus, she was born and raised surrounded by a love of wine.
This personal relationship with the world of wine and her entrepreneurial nature led her to embark on this adventure with VAL de MEIGAS, in 2016.

“Our vision – to elaborate a wine of excellent quality that is a unique and different experience for all those who taste it, a wine that transmits the culture and traditions of Galicia and carries the magic from our land to all corners of the world, a wine made with the most possible sustainable and ecological friendly way that respects our environment.”
